After Elena chose Stefan in the season 3 finale..
Julie Plec: What she said was 100 percent true: even at its worst, she never fell out of love with Stefan, and you just can’t let somebody like that go. She’s committed to Stefan. She loves Stefan / It’s honest and pure and real. Hopefully people who are fans of the show and fans of Elena and fans of real human behavior will understand and respect the choice that she makes / We wanted Stefan to be her hero, to really reaffirm all the ways and all the reasons why she chose him at the end of last year / Yes, that’s why when I had a choice to make, in about who I wanted to be with, that helped inform the choice that I made. Knowing these things about Stefan versus Damon… Stefan respects me and my choices and me as an individual.
After Elena chose Damon in the season 4 finale..
Julie Plec: Damon wanted to be loved.
so damon says “i’m not stopping until i get her back” in the preview for next week’s episode and his braindead stans are already fangirling.
yet Damon admitted in the last episode that turning off elena’s emotions was a mistake just before calling elena a bitch (“hindsight is a bigger bitch than you”) and somehow him torturing elena and being willing to go to any lengths to “bring her back” via torture is being celebrated by his stans even though everything that has led elena to this point is damon’s fault. he did this to her. he forced her to turn off her emotions.
so to review: there was no point to turning off elena’s emotions, he only caused her more kills, prolonged the grief she will suffer when she turns her emotions back on, caused her to attempt to kill her best friends, and if that wasn’t enough, this is all going to be framed as a vehicle to romanticize delena and damon’s man pain, and make it seem like damon is just some tortured soul willing to go “to any lengths” to bring the “love of his life back.” so fucking grossed out.
So let me get this straight: Damon starts this season beating and trying to kill the person Elena sacrificed her life to save, arrogantly insists she needs human blood from the vein which leads to her starved and vulnerable state, takes advantage of that vulnerability and sexually assaults her in a public bathroom, orders her not to tell stefan only to throw it in his face moments later, orders elena to kill someone which leads to hallucinations, suicidal thoughts and utter guilt/despair, takes advantage of her when she is suicidal and hallucinating and fucks her the day after her breakup with stefan, only cares about his own feelings after finding out about the sirebond, takes credit for helping her feed and says nothing regarding all the shit he caused her, continuously mocks and derides stefan for bringing up elena having a choice, lies to stefan about what happened by trying to bring up a story of letting stefan get on a train, selfishly keeps elena sired, fails to respect or treat elena like an autonomous person, mocks stefan and his feelings for elena, can’t fight the compulsion to kill jeremy, derides and shames elena for wanting to be cured, prefers her to be his sired slave over having free will, strips her of her humanity because he is a cowardly selfish entitled asshole, takes her to new york to kill and feed on people only to then decide she’s a ‘stone cold bitch’ because she’s not acting the way he wants her to….
Yet after all this, its Damon calling Elena a bitch when she “hits him where it hurts in regards to the sirebond” and you have journalists saying its completely justified.
